Abu Dhabi Research Committees of COVID-19 meeting in the presence of representatives from top health and academic institutions
The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, the first of its kind in the region, hosted the last meeting of the Abu Dhabi Research Committee of COVID-19 in 2022, before forming a new one to handle public health research affairs next year. The meeting witnessed personal attendance of members & subcommittees members for the first time since the pandemic, to report on the latest findings of their pandemic research. On this occasion Dr. Farida Al Hosani, the Executive Director of Infectious Disease in ADPHC , the Committee Chairman said: "UAE has been able to be among the world's leading countries in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also adopted a top-notch cooperation and scientific research approach to control any potential public health challenges. As the Chairman of the national COVID-19 Research Committee, I had the honor of leading a team of dedicated professionals who are expanding the UAE's research capabilities and making our nation's future healthier and more prosperous.”
The committee goal is to boost research collaboration between health care professionals, academics and pharmaceutical companies to expedite COVID-19 research and translate it into policy and a public health response. It is divided into four subcommittees dealing with different aspects of research: Epidemiology, Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Institutional Review Board.
It’s noteworthy the COVID-19 Research Committee includes experts from the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, G42, Khalifa University, New York University Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates University, Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Zayed University, University of Sharjah, Gulf Medical University, National Reference Laboratory and Dubai Health Authority.
