Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) announced the launch of “citymoov”, a motivational electronic game application during GITEX Technology Week, 2022. It is the first of its kind in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and sets games, known as “bounds”, for players across all Abu Dhabi regions. citymoov aims to stimulate the physical and mental activity of individuals and support ADPHC’s efforts to promote a public health system in Abu Dhabi and improve the health of the community members.

citymoov can be easily downloaded on mobile phones. Users are then required to enter their basic information to sign up, before starting their journey to enjoy the features that encourage movement and fun at the same time. The application allows players to either create their own bounds or choose one of the available bounds, which consist of puzzles, treasure hunts or other tasks that stimulate physical and mental activity. Bounds can be shared with other players in a fun and motivational atmosphere. citymoov also provides a variety of challenges in different places in the Emirate, with players following the bound’s instructions through the application and moving between tasks. At the end of the bound, the winner is announced and rewards are obtained. The application also allows a feature that enables players to follow the progress of the bounds and choose the best challenge set by a player.

Commenting of the launch of the application, His Excellency Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADPHC, said: “Abu Dhabi provides unique and distinguished examples when it comes to public health. The launch of citymoov is an important step to support ADPHC’s efforts towards providing a healthy and safe community, and ensuring encouragement of physical activity within various regions of Abu Dhabi. The application provides the opportunity for everyone to exercise and move within an enjoyable motivational atmosphere that will contribute in increasing the interaction of all community members. In ADPHC, we are all committed to working with global companies and implementing world-class programs that will contribute to promoting public health that matches the latest technology standards”,

HE Dr. Omniyat Al Hajeri, Executive Director of Community Health Sector in ADPHC, said: “The launch of this electronic application contributes to increasing the effectiveness and speed of  communication with the community of Abu Dhabi and adopting physical activity as a way of life. . In addition, this makes good use of the open spaces in Abu Dhabi to develop fun physical activity and movements, which encourages continuity",

The application is a tool for exercising outside the usual context, using technology to apply users' ideas to support physical and mental activity. ADPHC seeks, through its participation in GITEX 2022, to highlight digital transformation in everything related to transactions and services in compliance with the directives of Abu Dhabi Government. GITEX is a major exhibition and marketplace in the field of information technology and communications, with more than 120,000 visitors from all over the world.
