His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a Royal Decree declaring the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre in accordance with the Decree-Law No 14 of 2019, marking a monumental step in promoting health and well being in Abu Dhabi.The aim is to strengthen the measures in place to safeguard the health and safety of the Emirate’s population.
This is a clear indication of the focus of our leadership to protect health and ensure it is regarded as our most valuable asset and is prioritized in all development matters.
Establishing the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre represents advancement in the improvement of health and the well being of our people. This will be realized through identifying the health needs of the Emirate’s population and creating the policies and therequisitestrategiesthat can be utilized in implementing programs that will prevent incidence of diseases and enhance lifestyle practices, health and well being.
Having said this, it is noteworthy that the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre is a primary effort, contributing towards the attainment of the Emirate’s vision of fostering a healthy society in Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre was established to fulfill numerous roles. Firstly, the Centre will operate in accordance with the needs of workers by promoting the factors linked to preventive and public health. This Centre’s personnel will be highly trained in their specializations and will provide quality healthcare that meets the anticipated needs of the Emirate’s population. Also, taking into account the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic, the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre is timely as it will contribute towards the development of response processes for epidemics, radiation and nuclear pollution, and infectious diseases.
The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre also seeks to establish a training program to enhance capacity-building in the field of public and preventative health.
This includes the integration of statistical techniques that will establish information that can be utilized in developing future healthcare plans. The collection of information is crucial to assist decision-making at all levels of management within Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre to ensure the right service provision from the centre.
This information will also guide the healthcare intervention measures in understanding the areas where the healthcare provision should be improved to cater for any emerging challenges in the sector.
The significance of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre cannot be overstated.
The priority for the government aligns with that of the management of centre which is to act together in the interests of the people of this Emirate.
Hopefully, the collaboration that has started will be sustained towards setting health as a primary goal and prioritizing the well being of the people through establishing strategic initiatives, plans and standards that will contribute towards better public health at community level and extend to a global level.
